Airport Employee Arrested For Assaulting Co-Worker For Jokes Made When Body Scanner Reveals His 'Small Package'

Publicado

NbcMiami.com: Perhaps the new airport body scanners are a bit too revealing.

A TSA worker in Miami was arrested for aggravated battery after police say he attacked a colleague who'd made fun of his small genitalia after he walked through one of the new high-tech security scanners during a recent training session.

Rolando Negrin, 44, was busted for assault after things got ugly at Miami International Airport between Negrin and some of his fellow Transportation Security Administration workers on Tuesday.

Sources say Negrin stepped into the machine during the training session and became embarrassed and angry when a supervisor started cracking jokes about his manhood, made visible by the new machine.

According to the police report, Negron confronted one of his co-workers in an employee parking lot, where he hit him with a police baton on the arm and back.

"[Negron] then told victim to kneel down and say 'your sorry,'" the report reads. "Victim stated he was in fear and complied with [Negron]."

Negron was arrested the next day when he arrived for work. He told police he had been made fun of by coworkers on a daily basis.

"[Negron] stated he could not take the jokes anymore and lost his mind," the report reads.

Negrin was arrested and booked into Miami-Dade County Jail. His arrest photo (above) shows him wearing his blue TSA shirt at the time of the arrest.

The attack may be the first piece of proof that the new scanners may be leaving too little to the imagination.

The $170,000 machines, which were introduced last year, took some heat from fliers who weren't quite ready to show their bod to government employees.

But if this latest incident is any indication, the scanners sound like good news for anti-terrorism and bad news for less-than-average men.

NYPD Officer Accused Of Renting Out Badge And Police Equipment To Crime Crew That Robbed Drug Dealers

Publicado  May 7, 2010

NY Daily News: An NYPD officer sold out his badge - and handed over his gun and other police equipment - to a crime crew that posed as cops to rob drug dealers, the feds charged Thursday.

Emmanuel Tavarez even took part in at least four of the stickups, acting as lookout in case real cops showed up, authorities said.

Tavarez, an eight-year veteran with a bodybuilder's physique, pleaded not guilty to an indictment in Brooklyn Federal Court, answering each of the judge's questions with a crisp "yes, sir."

Held without bail, he faces life in prison if convicted of robbery and drug charges.

"The crimes alleged to have been committed by Emmanuel Tavarez are a slap in the face to the vast majority of law enforcement officers in New York City who are dedicated to upholding the law," said John Gilbride, special agent in charge of the Drug Enforcement Administration in New York.

The feds have already charged 15 other crew members with pulling more than 100 robberies of drug dealers in New York City, Connecticut, New Jersey and Pennsylvania since 2001.

Tavarez, 30, related by marriage to four co-defendants, provided the gang with NYPD raid jackets and other police paraphernalia so they would look like the real thing.

"On more than one occasion, Tavarez also handed his firearm to a member of the robbery crew to embolden him to go through with the robbery," prosecutor Stephen Meyer stated in court papers.

Another time, Tavarez provided his police utility belt, holster, firearm and bullet-proof vest to crew members going into an apartment building for a robbery, Meyer said.

After standing watch on the street, Tavarez went inside and told the victims it was a police drug raid.

The crew also had an auto customized with police-style lights and a speaker they used to pull over their marks. Tavarez's lawyer declined to comment.

Pharrell Williams Speaks On New N.E.R.D. Tour And Collabos With Drake, Clipse, Asher Roth, J.Cole & Jay-Z

The great Skateboard P has a message for you: The N.E.R.D. tour is coming soon to a venue near you.

"Just be prepared when you come to the show," Pharrell Williams told MTV News earlier this week, sitting next to his N.E.R.D. brethren, Chad Hugo and Shay. "You'll need more than just a water bottle for our show, the festivals overseas. You'll need more than a water bottle. You'll need a towel. ... Get your stretches in. The EMTs are always on the side, because people pull muscles."

Pharrell said his group's shows are so fresh, fans will be speechless: "When they ask you what it was like and can you describe it and could you put it in a word, you'll say nothing."

The guys were able to come up with some words to describe their upcoming album, Nothing. "It's the ultimate spring, summertime record," Shay said. "It's the festival record. It's a fun record and it's geared towards the women. What woman doesn't want to put on their sundress and stroll through SoHo and have that as their theme music?"

Pharrell and Chad have been lacing their peers with some theme music lately. The Neptunes have been back in the lab with Jay-Z, and the duo also worked on Drake's Thank Me Later and Game's The R.E.D. Album. Pharrell also recently did 12 tracks with Asher Roth and has studio sessions with J. Cole.

"I just wanna do things I really like and really love," Pharrell said. "I want to do it because I really love it."

Next Wave of Flav

The Clipse: "I'm not sure what their plans are. Whatever they wanna do, we're always 100 percent onboard to help. They wanted to make a super street record for the last album, that's what we did. You know what it is about Pusha? He can make radio records if he wants. But what you have to love about the guy because he's such an artist, he wants to make 'Popular Demand' all day long. He wants to make that all day long. Listen, all Pusha wants to do is drive in a CL 600 drop, make 'Popular Demand' all day and count money. He may be mad at me for saying that, but it's really all I think about when I think about him. There's so many other aspects to his life, but the guy, that's what he likes. That's why in my opinion he has some of the most venomous 16's. His 16's are crazy, because of his affinity for spending money, fast cars and rap."

On Drake: "We have [worked with him]. It was a great record."

On Jay-Z: "The guy is 40 and had a #1 record, and he sold more records than anybody in hip-hop at the time his album came out. And it's still selling. The one thing we're allowed to say [about our new collaboration] is he and I said that we're sworn to secrecy."

NFL Legend Lawrence Taylor Arrested For Allegedly Raping 15 Year Old Girl In Hotel

Publicado  May 6, 2010

ESPN: SUFFERN, N.Y. -- Pro Football Hall of Fame linebacker Lawrence Taylor was arrested early Thursday after being accused of raping a 15-year-old girl at a Montebello, N.Y., hotel, police said.

Taylor, who has a history of drug abuse and runs-in with the law, is being charged with third-degree rape, which involves having intercourse with a minor, the Journal News reported on its website. Ramapo police said Taylor has yet to be formally charged.

Police said they would hold a news conference Thursday afternoon. They did not immediately respond to questions about the circumstances of the arrest and whether Taylor, 51, had a lawyer.

Taylor was inducted into the Hall of Fame in 1999 and competed in ABC's "Dancing With the Stars" last year. He had a highly publicized struggle with drug addiction and has had multiple legal issues in retirement.

A quick, fierce and athletic linebacker who redefined his position, Taylor anchored the Giants' defense and led New York to Super Bowls titles in 1987 and 1991. He was selected to the NFL's 75th Anniversary All-Time Team.

A 10-time Pro Bowler, he was the NFL Most Valuable Player in 1986 and the NFL Defensive Player of the Year in 1981, 1982 and 1986. He recorded 132.5 sacks, which doesn't included the 9.5 sacks in 1981 when the statistic wasn't official.

In 2001, Taylor was convicted of possessing drug paraphernalia in New Jersey. The conviction stemmed from the September 1998 discovery in a hotel room of a butane torch and other materials commonly used to smoke crack.

In 1996 and 1997, he was arrested in South Carolina and Florida on drug charges. In those cases, he either admitted his guilt or agreed to enter a pretrial intervention program.

In 2000, he drew five years of federal probation for filing false tax returns and for tax evasion. Last November he was charged in Florida with leaving the scene of an accident.

Crazed Woman Running Through Target Store Randomly Stabbing People Including Pregnant Woman Subdued By Off Duty Cop

Publicado  May 4, 2010

WEST HOLLYWOOD, Calif. - Deputy Clay Grant Jr. was off-duty and picking up a couple of household items from Target when customers started screaming.

He says he quickly saw why: A woman was running down the cosmetic aisle with a knife in each hand.

Layla Trawick, 34, had just stabbed four people, including a woman holding a baby, slashing at shoppers in an apparently random attack at the busy store Monday, authorities allege.

Grant grabbed his duty weapon, identified himself as a sheriff's deputy and ordered the woman to drop the knives, he said. She ran away and he followed her from aisle to aisle before she surrendered.

"She finally dropped her knife, and I was able to place handcuffs on her," Grant said.

The Target store is on the second floor of a shopping center at a busy West Hollywood intersection. Shoppers streamed down the stairs and away from the building in a panic.

"People were really scared," said Rachelle Calello, a makeup artist who works in a cosmetic store next to Target. "Who knows if she has a knife or something else?"

A mother holding her baby was stabbed in the neck and was taken to the hospital, where she was in stable condition, Los Angeles County sheriff's spokesman Steve Whitmore said. The baby was unhurt and all four victims were expected to survive.

One witness said she was shopping for a Mother's Day card when she heard someone screaming, "There is no witness protection program!" as chaos broke out in the store.

Katy Winn, a freelance photographer from West Hollywood, said the woman was yelling at the top of her voice.

"I think I heard (the deputy) telling her to drop to the floor. That's when things got really chaotic and started falling over," Winn said.

Grant was wearing a white T-shirt, camouflage shorts and running shoes so several shoppers mistook him for a gunman, adding to the sense of panic, officials said.

Calmly recounting the events at a news conference Monday, Grant said his training kicked in and he decided not to shoot because he didn't feel his life was in jeopardy.

"Her facial expression was someone who was lost, confused, didn't know exactly where they were," Grant said.

Trawick was arrested with the help of private security guards and held on $1 million bail on suspicion of attempted murder. It was not immediately known if the Antioch woman had an attorney.

Investigators were trying to determine whether Trawick got the knives in the store.
