50 Cent Premiers New Film 'Caught In The Crossfire'. Starts Production On 'Things Fall Apart'

 
Rapper/Writer/Director/Actor/Businessman 50 Cent debuted the premier of his new film 'Caught In The Crossfire' for an excited audience in Grand Rapids, Michigan this week.

The locals not only got a chance to meet Fif, but they were also thrilled to see locations they recognized in the movie, since it was shot entirely in Grand Rapids.

50 has fallen in love with the city. He and his company Cheetah Films have already shot three movies there including 'Caught In The Crossfire' and 'Gun'. The latter stars Val Kilmer. The plan is to shoot two more before the year is out.

On filming in the small town of Grand Rapids 50 had this to say:


"Well it was untouched, I hadn't seen a lot of the scenery before. It was an opportunity for me to do it first."

This month production of 'Things Fall Apart' started. It's 50's most demanding role to date physically as he had to shed more than 50 pounds to accurately portray the role of a college football player suffering from cancer.

The film, written by 50 Cent and Brian Miller is being directed by Mario Van Peebles.

Rihanna Takes Another Tumble During Concert Performance

Rihanna took another fall onstage while performing "Te Amo" during her May 10 show in London's O2 Arena. The 22-year-old tripped and fell down a flight of stairs but recovered quickly and continued singing without taking notice of the fall.
This is not the first time the Barbadian singer has taken a spill onstage. She also fell last month during a perforamance in Marseilles, France. Critics and online sources have blamed her high heels and impractical costumes for the artist's repeated incidents.

Rihanna is currently out on the road overseas with her Last Girl on Earth tour, which kicked off on April 16 and will wrap up on August 28. The run, which is in support of her fourth studio album Rated R, will return to the States on July 2.

Mom Has Baby, Then Wakes Up With No Arms Or Legs

Petty complaints of a comfortable marriage have all melted away for Katy and Al Hayes.
The loving couple already had two children, but the arrival of their third child changed everything.
The last thing Katy really remembers is giving birth at her Houston-area home on February 10.

And then this:
"Waking up in the hospital with no arms and legs. And going, 'What's going on here?' And then he tells me. And his story will knock your socks off, cause I had no idea I was going through all that."

Katy Hayes was unconscious the entire time — unaware that a common Group A strep infection had set in, eating away at her body.

She was unaware of the incredibly difficult decision her husband made for surgeons to amputate her arms and legs in the hope that they could save her life.

"I decided that I loved her so much that the risk was worth it," Al Hayes said. "And if we came out and I had to spend a lifetime taking care of her that the risk was worth it to say that I didn't give up on her. Right? She's my best friend."

At first, Al admits he wondered if Katy would forgive him. He wondered if she could have a full life without a full body.

There is no doubt now.

"It's a complete miracle that I'm alive, so I'm so grateful... I'm so grateful," Katy said. "I wouldn't be here for my kids if they wouldn't have taken my arms and legs."

Katy Hayes may not have limbs, but she does have life and all that it represents.

"I've got three beautiful children, so I'm doing good," she said.

Katy says she will one day learn to walk — perhaps at the same time as her baby girl.
Doctors call Katy Hayes' recovery a miracle, saying she had less than a five percent chance of survival.

Group A strep is a bacterium found in the throat and on the skin. It typically causes mild illnesses, like a sore throat or a skin infection.

Katy Hayes' case is rare because the bacteria infected her muscles, fat, and skin tissue.

Hip-hop mogul Jay-Z's company, Roc Nation, is linking with Skullcandy headphones to release a new line of listening equipment. The first item to come out of the venture will be the Roc Nation Aviator, which sports a much more vintage frame than Dre's sleek futuristic set.

"Our passion is creating amazing music," Jay-Z said in a statement. "We're dedicated to delivering the best in live performances. Now with the Roc Nation/Skullcandy partnership, we're offering the best way for people to experience the soundtrack of their lives."

It’s pretty common knowledge that you don’t want to joke about bombs or weapons at the airport security checkpoint. Or that it’s a bad idea to phone in a bomb threat, because you’re running late and you want to hold the plane. (It’s happened.) But now we can add another lesson to the list: Don’t make sarcastic jokes about blowing up airports on Twitter.

A fellow named Paul Chambers was frustrated with the heavy snows that closed Doncaster Sheffield Robin Hood Airport (great name). He was getting concerned that the delays would ground his own flight one week later. So he hit Twitter with the following comment:

Crap! Robin Hood airport is closed. You’ve got a week and a bit to get your shit together otherwise I’m blowing the airport sky high!

Dumb? Misguided? Foolish? Clueless? Self-indulgent? All of the above?

No matter what you call it, the British police found it less than charming, and paid Mr. Chambers a visit. He was arrested for making a bomb threat. They confiscated his laptop, phone, and desktop hard drive. And now, he’s been convicted for the lesser (but still serious) charge of section 127 of the Communications Act 2003, for sending an “indecent, obscene or menacing” message. He was not only convicted, harming his career as an accounting, but he had to pay a £385 fine, a £15 “victims’ surcharge,” and another £600 in legal fees. Ouch.

A judge argued that the comment was “of a menacing nature in the context of the times in which we live.” But now, Twitter is full of further menacing messages tagged #twitterjoketrial as a show of solidarity and protest.

I feel bad for the guy. Yes, he was being stupid, “in the context of the times in which we live,” but he wasn’t really threatening anyone. Now, having joked about blowing up an airport, he’s not only a convicted criminal, he’s probably on the no-fly list.

T.I. Full Interview With Larry King. He Says 'Depression & Paranoia' Were His Downfall

T.I. the self proclaimed King Of The South gave his first interview since being released from prison on weapons charges.

T.I. tells Larry King he was in a state of depression and paranoia when he purchased three machine guns and two silencers from undercover officers.

"This most recent incident, it came from an attempt that was made on my life," he said. "My best friend [Philant Johnson] had died in my arms. It caused a state of depression and paranoia. My judgment was jaded, and I felt my life was in danger. ... At the time, when I felt the need to have these things, I never took into consideration the legalities; I only took into consideration the protection of my life and family."

Larry asked why did he feel the need to purchase that kind of firepower. He pointed out that not even law enforcement uses those kinds of weapons.

Tip explained that when he and his entourage were attacked in Cincinnati the night his best friend was killed the assailants pumped more than 50-100 rounds into the van they were riding in.

So he felt out gunned and didn't want that to happen again.

Lil Wayne Could Serve More Time Because Of MP3 Player In His Cell

A source at Rikers Island confirmed reports that Lil Wayne was busted Monday for having headphones, a charger and a watch that doubles as an MP3 player in his jail cell.

The offense isn't extremely serious, but it could mean more prison time for Wayne. "You just get an infraction, a violation," the source told MTV News. "You lose some 'good time.'

"It depends on the severity of the infraction," the source added about what other type of trouble Weezy could get into. "Level one is the worst. Then you have [level] two or three. [This infraction] could be a level one. He has to go on trial, and based on evidence, they'll make their determination."

Our source also confirmed that Wayne has a job as a suicide-prevention aid, which entails staying up at night to keep an eye on at-risk inmates.

"He checks each cell or area to see if each guy is alive. There are three shifts," our source said. "I think his shift is at night, like 11 [p.m.] to 7 [a.m.] or 12 to 8."

That job is now in jeopardy due to the infraction.

In 2007, Lil Wayne was arrested for attempted gun possession following his first headlining performance in Manhattan at the Beacon Theatre. New York is among the toughest states in the country when it comes to gun-possession laws. In other states, Lil Wayne could have gotten off with a misdemeanor rap and probation. However, in New York, only law-enforcement officials and those affiliated with authorities are permitted to carry firearms. The rapper was sentenced to a year in prison in March.

9 Year Old Boy Survives Plane Crash That Killed 103 Including His Parents & Brother

An 8-year-old boy who is a Dutch citizen is the sole survivor of a deadly plane crash in Libya, airline officials said Wednesday.

Afriqiyah Airways confirmed on its website late Wednesday that the other 92 passengers and 11 crew members were killed when the plane crashed while trying to land at the Tripoli International Airport.

The child, identified as Ruben van Assouw, suffered multiple fractures in his lower limbs and underwent an operation at Al Khadra Hospital in Tripoli, a doctor at the hospital said.

The boy has seen a Dutch Embassy representative and is sedated and asleep, she said.

The Dutch Foreign Ministry, which had a representative at the hospital waiting to identify the boy, declined to confirm the child's name.

The Afriqiyah Airways plane originated in Johannesburg, South Africa. Of those killed, 58 passengers were Dutch, six South African, two Libyan, two Austrian, one German, one French, one Zimbabwean and two British. Another 19 passengers' nationalities could not immediately be identified. The 11 crew members were all Libyan.

The plane, an Airbus A330-200, was at the end of its nearly nine-hour flight when it crashed at 6 a.m.

"We express our sincere regret and sadness on behalf of the airline. As well, we would like to express our condolences to the relatives and friends of those who had passengers on Flight 8U771 destined for Tripoli late last night, due to arrive around 6 o'clock this morning," said Nicky Knapp, a representative of the Airports Company South Africa. She was speaking on behalf of Afriqiyah Airways.

Jerzy Buzek, president of the European Parliament, said the child's survival, "given this tragic event, is truly a miracle."

At the crash site, workers with surgical masks combed through the smoldering wreckage, which spilled over a large area. A wheel lay atop a pile of bags. Two green airline seats sat upright and intact amid burned parts of the aircraft.

Officials recovered the plane's flight data recorder, which investigators use to piece together a flight's last minutes.

The Tripoli-based Afriqiyah (Arabic for "African") operates flights to four continents. The planes in the fleet carry the logo 9.9.99: the date when the African Union was formed.

The plane that crashed was one of three Airbus 330-200s that the airline owns.

Atletico Madrid win inaugural Europa League (Atletico Madrid 2-1 Fulham)

A brace from Diego Forlán with two assists from Kün Aguero give Atlético Madrid their first sliverware since 1995-96.

May 12, 2010 - Two goals from Diego Forlán - the second deep into extra time - won Atlético Madrid the first edition of the Europa League, defeating Fulham 2-1 in Hamburg.

Forlán's second goal came with five minutes left in a match that looked destined for penalty kicks, having gone near-eighty minutes between Simon Davies' first half equalizer and the match-winning goal.

The winning movement started when Forlán's strike partner, Kün Aguero, saved a ball from going out for goal kick and, after facing-up right back Chris Baird picked-out Forlán making a run from far-to-near post, toward the edge of the six yard box. Forlán one-timed Aguero's chipped pass under center half Brede Hangeland, toward the far post, barely alluding a diving Mark Schwarzer.

The goal secured Atlético's first piece of silverware since winning a domestic double in 1995-96. The title is the Atleti's first European trophy since winning the European Cup in 1973-74.

It was the second consecutive round Forlán had eliminated an English side in extra time, accomplishing the same feat against Liverpool in the semifinals, where his stoppage time goal at Anfield sent Atlético through on away goals.

The final was a match Atlético controlled, outshooting Fulham 10-3 (shots on goal) while maintaining 54 percent of the possession, looking more ambitious than the Cottagers when they had the ball.

That is not to say Fulham was overmatched. Forlán hit the post early and eventually capped Atlético's strong start with the opening score - finishing a whiffed shot from Agüero that happened to find him striding toward goal. Still, Fulham responded quickly, creating Simon Davies' second goal of the competition.

Forward Zoltan Gera's chipped pass was volleyed perfectly by Davies, giving young goalkeeper David De Gea little chance to stop the equalizer.

It was the second consecutive round in which Davies has scored - his only two goals of the competition, also having gone scoreless in the Premier League.

After the winger's goal the match lacked strong scoring chances until extra time, when Atlético saw Aguero come close in the 105th minute, sliding on to a ball in front of goal only to see his shot find the side netting.

Aguero would make amends with his second assist of the match ten minutes later - he and Forlán combining for the winning goal.

With the win, Atlético guarantees they will reenter the competition next season, though the Atleti had another route into Europe had they last this match. Atlético remains in line for a Europa-Cope del Rey double, facing Sevilla on May 19 for the Spanish domestic cup.

White Officer Admits To Shooting Himself After Initially Saying He Was Shot By A Black Man So He Could Get A Transfer

A Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, police officer who told authorities he was shot while on patrol last month has admitted he shot himself intentionally, the city's police commissioner said Tuesday.

Sgt. Robert Ralston, 46, confessed to police early Tuesday morning that he made up the story, possibly to a get attention or a transfer, Philadelphia Police Commissioner Charles Ramsey said in a news conference.

Ralston reported that on April 5 he saw two African-American males arguing on a train track in West Philadelphia. He told investigators that when he stopped the two men for questioning one of them pulled out a gun and shot him in the left shoulder.

His claim sparked a search for a phantom suspect.

Ramsey noted that there were many inconsistencies throughout the month-long investigation.

"The evidence never did match up. We have forensic evidence at the scene that did not match with the story," he said.

One example of inconsistent evidence was that the gunpowder residue found on Ralston's shirt matched the ammunition used by the police department, he said.

The commissioner said that Ralston, who is white, told police his attackers were black because the district where the shooting took place is predominately black.

"It's troubling in a lot of ways," Ramsey said. "It inflames racial tensions in our community, and that's certainly something we don't need."

Ralston, a 21-year veteran of the police force, will be made to pay the cost of the investigation that followed his report, and has been suspended with the intent to dismiss, Ramsey said.

He will not, however, face criminal charges because police granted him immunity to obtain his confession.

An "impossible" star is born. And a hole in space shows what happens once a star is formed. Plus, an out-of-this world zombie! It's your Buzz space roundup.

Get out of the way, Hollywood. This star will be brighter than every celeb on the planet combined. Scientists’ European-built Herschel space telescope is their version of Tinseltown’s paparazzi, which caught on tape the beginning of a big star. And we mean really, really big. So enormous, it would block out the sun. Not to mention Angelina Jolie.

Researchers can't explain how what they're calling the "impossible" star came to be. The star was discovered in a star-forming cloud in the Milky Way Galaxy called RCW 120. And here's the coolest part: Even as a baby star, it is already eight to ten times larger than our sun, and it's still feeding on the gas and dust clouds around it. The star is set to be one of the biggest and brightest stars in our galaxy within the next few hundred thousand years — meaning, this star won't ever be a part of our lives. But hey, if movies are still around in the way future, this gigunda star should seriously considering signing with a talent agent.

How did that get there?
That's not the only unexplained mystery in space. That same Herschel infrared telescope also picked up an enormous hole in space. A story from Space.com has a scientist noting, and we quote, "No one has ever seen a hole like this." The surprising find is confounding scientists because it is so unexpected. When a star forms, it's surrounded by gas and dust. (See above.) But how a newborn star shakes off the space debris to emerge from its brith cloud hadn't been fully understood. Until now: Black patches near the stars were always around a reflective gas, NGC 1999.

Everyone figured the black patches near the star were gas, but the telescope would have picked up on that. Finally, scientists realized they were looking at a big, empty hole where the space dust used to be — possibly caused by some of the young stars puncturing a hole with the jets of gas. For researchers, this amazing discovery is a helpful step into understanding how a star is formed.

Finally, scientists have no idea how to stop a fully powered satellite that has gone rogue and is no longer accepting orders from earth. This so-called "zombie" satellite, known as Galaxy 15 (which carried the SyFy channel), continues along in the Earth's orbit — on a course to interfere with the communications of a fully functioning SES satellite beaming down programming to its customers in Luxembourg. We know, we know: We're just happy it's not us.

Lil Wayne Busted For Being In Possession Of 'Music Contraband' While Behind Bars On Rikers Island

Jailed rapper Lil Wayne has to face the music again - without his music.

The rap mega-star was busted yesterday for "music contraband" - a charger and ear phones for a watch that doubled as a digital music player.

"He was found with a charger for an MP3 player and unauthorized earphones," in his Rikers Islan cell, a source said.

Authorities seized the music pieces at 8 a.m. after a prison rat tipped off officers, who found the music contraband in foil and a bag stuffed in Lil Wayne's trash.

A subsequent search found another inmate in the same wing with the accompanying music player, sources said.

The "Lollipop" rapper and the other inmate - will be charged with an infraction for contraband a Correction source said.

Investigators are trying to find out how Lil Wayne got the items. Lil Wayne pleaded guilty to gun charges in October after a semiautomatic pistol was found on his tour bus in 2007.

Massive Sinkhole Swallows Up Home Along With The Family Of Four Inside It

It’s the kind of story one immediately questions when hearing it for the first time:

“A family of four is missing on Tuesday morning after a huge sinkhole opened up and a house and a truck fell inside it in St. Jude, about 77 kilometres northeast of Montreal near St. Hyacinthe, Que.”

The home, located in the pastoral farmland about 75 kilometres outside of Montreal, disappeared into the sinkhole’s gaping maw around 9:30 p.m. Monday. The missing family is a mother and father in their forties and their two children, aged nine and 11. Residents identified the father as Richard Prefontaine.

Unconfirmed reports suggested that the family was in their basement when the house was swept away. Rescuers found the family dog , which according to a police spokesman had been tied to a tree outside the home and survived the slide.

Search and rescue dogs that entered the home this morning but did not find any signs of life, said National Post reporter Graeme Hamilton, who is at the scene:

“They haven’t given up hope. They’ve still got ambulances standing by. There have been lots of examples of natural disasters where, for one reason or another, people aren’t able to communicate but end up being found.”

Herman Gagnon, a neighbour, tells Canwest News Service that he heard a loud, mysterious groan last night. He initially thought it was an earthquake. After calling a neighbour, he hopped in his car and drove towards St. Jude:

“In front of him lay ‘a different kind of blackness,’ Gagnon recounted yesterday, at a security perimeter erected two kilometers from the sight of the sinkhole.

Gagnon has stopped at the edge of a giant precipice and found himself staring into the abyss.”

T.I. To Appear On 'Larry King Live': Rapper Will Discuss His Nine Months In Prison During Thursday's Episode.

T.I. will appear on Thursday's "Larry King Live," airing at 9 p.m. ET, to talk with the CNN host about the nine months he spent in prison on federal weapons charges, among other topics.

The rapper was sentenced to one year and one day of prison last year following his arrest in October 2007 for attempting to illegally purchase firearms. The rapper was subsequently released to a halfway house in December to serve out the remainder of his sentence before his ultimate release at the end of March.

Since finishing his sentence, Tip has filmed and released a music video for his appropriately titled new track "I'm Back," the first single from his forthcoming King Uncaged LP, set for release in August.

"I want to maintain the level of success I've been fortunate enough to do, over and over again, over the years," the rapper said of his upcoming album in a recent interview. "This album is different in many ways. I think that Paper Trail was a lot more about thoughts; this is more about feelings. This is significantly more aggressive, or at least at this period in production. Who knows? I can do 10 love songs tomorrow and change the direction. At this point, right now, it's going hard. It's going hard like classic T.I."

Speaking with MTV News last month, The-Dream agreed with Tip's assessment of the developing record. "Tip is in the zone, man," he said. "Right now, he's rapping like he's in space. Not a place we don't know — it's in the same area — but his vibe is just wider now."

Cops On The Hunt For Dwyane Wade's Wife Siohvaughn For Missing Court Appearance

TMZ has learned law enforcement officials are currently on the hunt for Dwyane Wade's estranged wife - after she missed a mandatory court appearance today.

Earlier today, Siohvaughn Wade had blown off a court hearing in Chicago regarding her ongoing divorce war with the Miami Heat star - so the judge threatened to issue a body attachment order unless she showed up in the afternoon.

The deadline came and went - and Siohvaughn never showed.

Now, the judge has issued the order - which means cops will now seek her out, take her into custody ... and deliver her to the judge.

As we previously reported, Siohvaughn has made several sensational claims about Dwyane - most recently accusing the NBA star of engaging in "sexual foreplay" with his new girlfriend in front of his kids.

Dwyane (who was present at court today) has denied all of Siohvaughn's allegations.

Legendary Actress & Singer Lena Horne: Dead at 92

According to a family spokesperson, Lena Horne died at New York-Presbyterian Hospital on Sunday night.

Ms. Horne, a renowned jazz singer and Hollywood actress was also a forerunner of the Civil Right movement as she was one of the first Black actress with a major Hollywood contract and fought through bigotry and racism.

In essence, Ms. Horne paved the way for the likes of Halle Berry, Whitney Houston, Alicia Keys and so many others.

The stunning Lena once stated in an interview,
"I was unique in that I was a kind of Black that white people could accept. I was their daydream. I had the worst kind of acceptance because it was never for how great I was or what I contributed. It was because of the way I looked."

According to The Associated Press, In the 1940s, she was one of the first black performers hired to sing with a major white band, the first to play the Copacabana nightclub and among a handful with a Hollywood contract.

In 1943, MGM Studios loaned her to 20th Century-Fox to play the role of Selina Rogers in the all-black movie musical "Stormy Weather." Her rendition of the title song became a major hit and her signature piece.

On screen, on records and in nightclubs and concert halls, Horne was at home vocally with a wide musical range, from blues and jazz to the sophistication of Rodgers and Hart in songs like "The Lady Is a Tramp" and "Bewitched, Bothered and Bewildered."

Always facing racism, Horne once stated,

"I was always battling the system to try to get to be with my people. Finally, I wouldn't work for places that kept us out ... it was a damn fight everywhere I was, every place I worked, in New York, in Hollywood, all over the world," she said in Brian Lanker's book "I Dream a World: Portraits of Black Women Who Changed America."

While at MGM, she starred in the all-black "Cabin in the Sky", in 1943, but in most of her other movies, she appeared only in musical numbers that could be cut in the racially insensitive South without affecting the story. These included "I Dood It", a Red Skelton comedy, "Thousands Cheer" and "Swing Fever", all in 1943; "Broadway Rhythm" in 1944; and "Ziegfeld Follies" in 1946.

"Metro's cowardice deprived the musical of one of the great singing actresses" , film historian John Kobal wrote.

When Halle won her Oscar in 2002, Lena Horne was one of the people that she thanked for paving the way.

Will Smith Goes 3D For Men In Black 3

Will Smith has signed on to star in Men In Black 3, which will be released in 3D.

Smith will be reunited with director Barry Sonnenfeld in the movie, which will feature a plot centered around the rapper/actor traveling back in time, to 1969.

According to sources, producers of the 3D flick are currently negotiating with MIB’s previous co-star, Tommy Lee Jones and actor Josh Brolin, who will play a younger version of Jones’ character.

MIB in 3D will be executive produced by legendary filmmaker Steve Spielberg and is slated to hit theaters on May 25, 2012, during Memorial Day weekend.

Men In Black 3 will be released by Columbia Pictures.

Forest Whittaker joins 50 Cent's Movie “Things Fall Apart”

Rapper/Actor Curtis "50 Cent" Jackson is filming his new Movie "Things Fall Apart" in Grand Rapids. Now there are the first news from the Movie set.

HollywoodToday reports that Forest Whittaker just joined the cast.

Also on the cast is Cedric Sanders ("American Gangsta"), he is playing the role of 50 Cent's characters brother and actress Lynn Whitfield plays the mom.

50 Cent said: "Cedric’s character of my brother is practical, awkward, book smart, and has lived in the shadows of his older brother his whole life. When tragedy strikes, the relationship between the two brothers really transforms.”

Cedric Sanders admires 50 Cent's dedication to his character: "We’d have a break from rehearsals and he [50 Cent] would immediately head outside to workout. Very impressive."

The Film is produced by 50 Cent's own company Cheetah Vision Films. The story centers around a high school football star (played by Curtis Jackson) who's career tragically jeopardized.
