Drake To Star In 'Gears Of War 3'; Grammy-Nominated Rapper To Play Alien-Battling Soldier In Microsoft's Popular Shooter Franchise

In the world of video games, a little star power always helps. Epic Games and Microsoft Game Studios are apparently pushing that celebrity angle for "Gears of War 3," as they've tapped Drake, the Grammy-nominated artist behind the current hit "Find Your Love," to play one of the game's main characters, Jace Stratton.

"When Epic came to me with the role, I couldn't pass it up," the actor-turned-rapper said in a press release. "They've created an amazing character in Jace, and I'm looking forward to my tour in Delta Squad."

Jace Stratton only appeared briefly in "Gears of War 2," and in that game the character was voiced by Nolan North. But the character has played a much more prominent role in the "Gears of War" comic book series. Stratton is one of the four playable characters in "Gears of War 3," which comes out in 2011, so Drake will get plenty of screen time.

Epic Games executive producer Rod Fergusson said in the release that timing was everything when it came to deciding that Drake, whose debut album "Thank Me Later" comes out Tuesday, was right for the part. "[Drake's EP] 'So Far Gone' had just been released, and Drake's combination of heart and grit was just what we were looking for. Rather than search for somebody who sounded like him, it was clear that we should approach him directly ... fortunately he turned out to be a huge fan."

"Gears of War 3" completes the story of Marcus Fenix and his battle against the Locust on the planet of Sera. For the first time in the franchise, the game will support four-player cooperative play throughout the main campaign, in addition to a range of new multiplayer modes and features.

Hip Hop artist Nicki Minaj is being sued for using a 2008 Lamborghini Murcielago for an off road adventure while shooting a music video, RadarOnline.com has learned.


The rapper, who’s done collaborations with Mariah Carey, Ludacris and Lil Wayne, used the car for the music video for her first single Massive Attack.


But Hollywood Exotic Car Rental claims that she and her record label not only drove it without permission, but they wrapped the rental car in shocking pink.

The exotic car company claims that they have damages to the tune of $11,589.41.

Kid Cudi Arrested For Felony Criminal Mischief & Possession Of Controlled Substance After Ripping Woman's Door Off Hinges.

TMZ is reporting the rapper was arrested in New York City yesterday (June 12) for felony criminal mischief and possession of a controlled substance.

Cudi allegedly got amped up and smashed a 24 year old woman's phone to bits before breaking her apartment door off it's hinges.

When police arrived they found a glass bottle of a controlled substance.

1000 NYC High School Students Walk Out Of Class In Protest Of Proposed MetroCard Elimination

About 1,000 New York City high school students walked out of class Friday and rallied near City Hall to protest a plan to eliminate their free transit passes.

The students walked out of schools around the city at noon and converged at City Hall Park, where they chanted "Save our MetroCards!" and "This is what democracy looks like."

The protest comes a day after Mayor Michael Bloomberg announced a stepped-up effort to fight truancy.

Fernando Matos, 17, a student at Samuel Gompers High School in the Bronx, said that without a free transit pass he would have to transfer to a different school.

"I do not want to go to a local high school," Matos said. "It doesn't have the classes I need."

More than 500,000 city students receive free or reduced-fare MetroCards to get to and from school.

The Metropolitan Transportation Authority has proposed ending the free rides as part of its effort to close an $800 million budget gap.

Without the free passes, families would be forced to buy monthly MetroCards at a cost of about $1,000 a year per child.

City Council member Letitia James of Brooklyn told the rally, "Mr. Bloomberg, you just don't seem to get it. This is a lesson about civics, Mr. Bloomberg. This is learning."

Sharon Litaker, a special education teacher at Banana Kelly High School in the Bronx, attended the rally to support her students.

"I just walked out," she said. "A lot of families lost their jobs. They don't have the extra income to pay for their children's MetroCards."

A spokesman for the Department of Education said that any disciplinary action the students might face for cutting class would be up to their principals.

Protesters planned to march across the Brooklyn Bridge later Friday for a second rally at a transit facility.

Micheal Jordan gets cover of the new basketball video game 2K11

Michael Jordan won six NBA championships, five MVP awards and was a 14-time All Star, but there was one honor that had avoided his grasp -- until now.

Jordan was named the cover athlete for the upcoming "NBA 2K11" (2K Games) video game. According to his business manager, this is the first time that Jordan will be on the cover of a game in the United States.

"Michael was very flattered to be approached by 2K Games and has watched the growth of innovation in video games," Estee Portnoy said. "His fans, mostly in the 18 to 34 year old group, always asked him why he wasn't in a video game."

Portnoy said "His Airness" was heavily involved in the creativity of the game. Jason Argent, vice president of marketing at 2K Games, said the company didn't want to just treat Jordan as a cover athlete, but wanted his input as part of a complete "athlete integration" into the game.

"We think we are making the best (basketball) video game so we wanted the greatest basketball player ever," Argent said. "Our goal and mandate is to continue to push the look and feel of basketball."

While Argent would not confirm that Jordan is available as a player in the game, Jordan may have tipped his hand when asked about the honor.

"I have no doubt that 'NBA 2K11' will be a big hit with gamers and basketball fans alike," Jordan said. "I'm looking forward to getting back out onto the court virtually. Let's hope they get my dunk from the foul line right."

"NBA 2K11" is scheduled to come out on October 5 for all console platforms and the PC.

Kanye West's Car Smashes Into Honolulu Home

A car registered to Kanye West smashed into an unoccupied home in Honolulu early Saturday morning -- but Kanye was not involved.

Cops in Hawaii tell TMZ the accident happened around 4:00 AM. According to KITV in Hawaii, witnesses told police they saw three men running from the Porsche Panamera after the accident.

Police say the car was reported stolen sometime after the accident.

A call to Kanye's rep was not returned.
