DMX Files Lawsuit For Over $1 Million In Stolen & Unpaid Royalties

Ruff Ryder DMX has had his fair share of trouble with the law but this time he is on the other end.

According to published reports, X is filing a lawsuit against Rich Kid Entertainment and several other companies for unpaid royalties.

In the lawsuit filed yesterday (April 26), DMX, whose real name is Earl Simmons, claims that he has been “ripped off for years” by the company, who he hired to collect his song royalties.

The suit also claims that the company made deals letting record companies reproduce his recording without telling him.

The lawsuit also states that due to his numerous incarcerations, he was only recently able to discover the problem.

Simmons is seeking at least $1 million dollars in damages that stem from royalties owed from his most classic material including 1998 release of It's Dark and Hell Is Hot.

As of press time neither camp had released a statement regarding the lawsuit.

X is currently locked up in Phoenix, Arizona for violating probation by failing a drug test and is expected to remain behind bars for the next 6-months.

Tupac Shakur's Mother Gets Arrested For Drug Possession In NYC

Afeni Shakur Davis, the mother of the late great Tupac Shakur is making headlines after being arrested on drug possession charges.

Afeni, 63, was arrested April 16 in Lumberton, North Carolina and charged with felony possession of marijuana, maintaining a vehicle, dwelling or place for a controlled substance and simple possession of a controlled substance.

She posted $10,000 bail and is expected to appear in court May 10.

Shakur Davis is the founder of the Tupac Amaru Shakur Foundation established in Stone Mountain, Georgia which provides arts programs for youth.

Since her son's untimely death in 1996, she's managed the release of his unreleased music and poetry.

Eminem Announces First Recovery Single 'Not Afraid' (album drops June 22)

Though its release is less than two months away, we don't yet know a whole lot about Eminem's Recovery album. Well, we do know one thing now: The first single will be called "Not Afraid."

In his inimitably cryptic way, Slim Shady dropped that nugget of knowledge late on Monday night, tweeting simply, "I'm 'Not Afraid.' "

The song is reportedly due to debut on radio this Friday, though a spokesperson for the rapper could not be reached for comment on its release schedule at press time.

It was also not clear who produced the song, but one of the men behind the boards for the album, Jim Jonsin, recently told MTV News that he was heavily involved in Eminem's latest effort, due out June 22.

"He was open to ideas," Jonsin recalled of working with Em on Recovery. "He was real respectful to my craft. He let me do what I do. He asked me ideas on some of the lyrics. We had ideas for lyric changes. Certain words may or may not work on radio. We talked about that. He had a setup outside of the room to do production, but I'd rather be in the room where he was at, and he was cool with that. And I knocked out a couple of joints in there while he was in there with me. He was pretty open and he let me do my thing. He did his thing. It was a pretty good experience."

After working exclusively with longtime foil and mentor Dr. Dre on last year's comeback album, Relapse, Eminem reached out to a number of different producers for Recovery, including Jonsin, DJ Khalil, Just Blaze and Boi-1da. And without revealing much, Jonsin said he and Marshall Mathers went to a new place with some of the tracks they laid down together.

"We touched on something that I haven't done anything like that before," Jonsin revealed. "It's unique in a way for myself. It's a place I've been wanting to go, and I'm so happy he allowed it to go down. He played a huge part in the record. Without him on it, it's not the same. I don't wanna give up too much about what it is and what direction."

Earlier this month, Em announced that he had scrapped plans for a Relapse sequel, Relapse 2, after spending much of last year finishing it. "As I kept recording and working with new producers, the idea of a sequel to Relapse started to make less and less sense to me, and I wanted to make a completely new album," he said. "The music on Recovery came out very different from Relapse, and I think it deserves its own title."

President Barack Obama welcomes World Series champion New York Yankees to White House

WASHINGTON - When President Obama picked up the World Series trophy for a photo opportunity near the end of Monday's ceremony at the White House, Yankees assistant general manager Jean Afterman threw a little Bronx attitude at the longtime White Sox fan.

"Let him hold it," Afterman said. "He may not get a chance again."

As the crowd in the East Room laughed at the crack, the President answered quickly with a one-liner of his own.

"And you wonder why the other teams don't root for you," Obama said with a smile.

It was a festive atmosphere as the Yankees were honored for their 2009 title, presenting Obama with a signed No. 27 pinstriped jersey to commemorate the visit.

"It's been nine years since your last title - which must have felt like an eternity for Yankees fans," Obama said toward the beginning of his eight-minute address. "I think other teams would be just fine with a spell like that - the Cubs, for example."

Obama praised the Yankees for their work on and off the field, citing the charitable efforts of Mark Teixeira and Jorge Posada, the work ethic of Derek Jeter and the HOPE Week initiative the organization began last summer. The President also had kind words for Mariano Rivera, whom he clearly would prefer to see pitching for his hometown White Sox.

"This is a team that goes down to spring training every year expecting to win it all - and more often than not, you guys get pretty close," said Obama, who was joined by Vice President Joe Biden. "Of course, if I had Rivera, I'd get pretty close, too. My White Sox would get close every year. That attitude, that success, has always made the Yankees easy to love - and, let's face it, easy to hate as well."

Whether it was their fifth visit to the White House or their first, the Yankees soaked in every moment as they closed the book on last fall's title run.

"We keep saying we're closing the 2009 season, but we still haven't yet," Teixeira said. "This is may be the last hurrah, and it's up there with the parade and the clinching Game 6. The entire ride, from spring training until today, it's been incredible."

As much as the Yankees cherished the trip to the White House, it was their visit to the Walter Reed Army Medical Center and the Mologne House - a housing facility for wounded soldiers and their families - that seemed to touch them the most.

"It was a privilege for us to go there," Jeter said. "For them to come up to us and say thank you for winning a championship, it was mind-boggling. We were there to thank them. It really puts things in perspective; people always look at us and say that we're heroes, but when you look at it, they're the real heroes."

Half of the team's traveling party - which included George Steinbrenner children's Hal, Jennifer and Jessica (Hank was conspicuously absent), team president Randy Levine, COO Lonn Trost and GM Brian Cashman - visited Walter Reed, while the others went to Mologne House.

"You go to thank the soldiers for what they've done," Joe Girardi said. "It really penetrates your heart to see the sacrifices that they make to serve our country and protect us. It's amazing."

The entire group assembled in a cafeteria at Walter Reed to take photos and sign autographs with the soldiers, then headed to Pennsylvania Avenue.

"It was my first time, and it was a real honor to be in front of the President," Alex Rodriguez said. "To achieve something and to come here, it was a big reward. But for me, the biggest reward of the day was going down this morning and spending time with those guys. I know they enjoyed it, but we enjoyed it as much if not more."

Parliament Leader Hides Under Umbrella As Eggs, Smoke Bombs & Fists Fly In Ukraine

Lawmakers in Ukraine scuffled with each other, throwing punches and eggs, as parliament met Tuesday to ratify a treaty with Russia that extends the latter's navy presence in the Ukraine's Crimean peninsula until 2042.

The ruling Regions party eventually ratified the treaty but not before howls of protest from the opposition.

Someone set off a smoke bomb inside the building, while Speaker Volodymyr Lytvyn sought refuge behind an umbrella as he was pelted with eggs.

During a rally attended by thousands on Saturday, opposition leader Yulia Tymoshenko -- the former prime minister who lost to Viktor Yanukovych in the presidential election run-off in February -- said the ratification must be prevented at all costs.

She claimed that Yanukovych is "selling out" Ukraine, has "openly embarked on the path of destruction of (Ukraine's) national interests, and has actually begun the process of eliminating the state's sovereignty."

The deal was signed last week by Yanukovych and Russian President Dmitry Medvedev.
Tymoshenko said it violated part of the Ukrainian Constitution, which forbids the country from hosting foreign military bases after 2017.

The deal extends Russia's lease of a major naval base in the Black Sea port of Sevastopol for an additional 25 years, in exchange for a 30 percent cut in the price of natural gas that Russia sells to Ukraine.

The agreement may bring an end to years of disputes over natural gas prices, which culminated in Russia turning off the pipeline to Ukraine.

The dispute affected not only Ukrainians, but many Europeans who depend on Russian gas pumped through Ukraine.

The two countries had been at odds ever since the "Orange Revolution" swept Yanukovych's fiercely anti-Russian predecessor Viktor Yushchenko to power in 2005.

Throughout his time in office, Yushchenko repeatedly threatened to expel Russia's Black Sea Fleet from Sevastopol. The Russian military lease there was scheduled to expire in 2017.

Yanukovych said the new deal added a "concrete and pragmatic dimension" to centuries of relations between Ukrainians and Russians.

Opposition groups in Ukraine, however, were quick to denounce the agreement. Yuschenko's "Our Ukraine" party said the treaty would lead to the "Russification" of Ukraine

UFC Fighter Tito Ortiz Arrested After Assaulting His Girlfriend, Porn Star Jenna Jameson

UFC fighter Tito Ortiz is known for throwing his weight around in the Octagon. This morning however, he was arrested for allegedly attacking his live-in girlfriend and baby's mother, Jenna Jameson.

Police responded to a disturbance call at the couple's Orange County,Ca home this morning. Moments later, Tito was being led away in handcuffs.

Jameson, a very well known porn actress was later seen with a medical brace on her arm.

She told TMZ she feels "betrayed" that Tito would lash out at her. She also said she has filed a restraining order against him.


After being released from police custody, Tito held a press conference. He says Jenna is battling an Oxycontin addiction.


His lawyer alleges that when he confronted Jenna after catching her relapsing on the drug, she went bananas and at no point did he hit her.

Dana White, the President of the UFC said Tito could be released from his contract with the company pending the outcome of the investigation.
